Alpha Morgan Capital, in partnership with the IBORI Golf and Country Club, Asaba, hosted the 11th IGCC Ladies Open Championship, to support women in sports.
The event’s ceremonial tee-off was conducted by the wife of Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa.
Okowa expressed gratitude to the women for the invitation and commended them for choosing to remain fit.
“This our physical body is just a carton containing our soul which is the most important. When the end comes, it is the state of our souls that will matter”, she asserted.
The two-day tournament saw the convergence of several golfers from across the federation under the backing of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria.
Alpha Morgan Capital’s Group Managing Director, Ade Buraimo, said sponsoring events such as the championship was part of the company’s contribution to the empowerment of women in sports.
Represented by George Imade, MD, Investment Banking, Buraimo thanked the partners, participants, and guests.
“Alpha Morgan Capital appreciates the Lady Captain of IGCC, Mrs Hetty Egbai and the entire management of IGCC Golf and Country Club, Asaba, for the opportunity to sponsor this year’s 11th IGCC ladies Open Championship”, he said.
In her remarks, Egbai noted that the tournament was themed “Love and Friendship on the Airway”.
“We want to create more awareness on women being in golf, therefore we had to invite the First Lady. We are grateful she honoured our invitation”, she added.
A prize presentation dinner and gala night were organized in honour of the winners.
