Alpha Morgan Capital, Africa’s fastest-growing asset management and investment banking firm, unveiled the remodeled Prof. Babatunde Sofoluwe Park today.
To give back to the University of Lagos, Alpha Morgan Capital remodelled the famous Prof. Sofoluwe Park as part of its Corporate Service Responsibility (CSR).
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe described the remodelling of the late Prof. Babatunde Sofoluwe Park as exciting and a way of appreciating nature.
Ogundipe, who stated this at the unveiling of the remodelled park on Thursday in Lagos, said that the significance of the whole thing is about the planet, the environment, and its friendliness.
“It feels exciting to see all that has been put in place. If you come out here in the evening, you will find a lot of students and even visitors taking photographs, doing photo shoots.
In addition, he explained that the aesthetics of the park have attracted a lot of attention. During the recently concluded NUGA games, for instance, a lot of students and officials from visiting institutions thronged this place to appreciate nature. They did not hide their excitement. It was quite fascinating and created a lot of fun for them.
“Alpha Morgan has not only renovated the park but also invested money to ensure its full maintenance for the next five years. I applaud them for this gesture”
He said that if Prof. Sofoluwe was alive to witness the development, his excitement would have been beyond measure.
“We, his mentees, are also excited to be part of what we are witnessing here today, as well as being able to maintain his legacy,” the VC said.
Also speaking at the event, the Group Managing Director of Alpha Morgan, Mr Ade Buraimo said that the essence was to give back to planet earth, and the people. He also said that he wanted to create a friendly space for relaxation.
In explaining why he chose Unilag for the give-back project, he stated that as an old student of the institution, he felt it would be fitting to take responsibility for humanity.
“I was a student here and my wife also graduated from here, and again, this is where the future of our business lies. I mean this is where the people that will take over from us are being nurtured. Therefore, it is expedient that we start engaging, impacting, and capturing them young. This will enable them to begin to see, hear and know the whole essence of what we stand for as a firm”.
We are committed to maintaining the park for the next five years. We have employed permanent electricians, gardeners, horticulturists, and supervisors who reside on and outside the campus. This will ensure the park is fully functional round the clock and we are very excited about it.
